Ella Mae Pheasant Sequoyah, 79, of the Big Cove Community, died Wednesday, June 26, 2002, in a Jackson County Hospital.

A native of Swain County, she was the daughter of the late William Perry and Rachel Pheasant.

She was a retired textile worker and member of Qualla Arts and Crafts.

She was the wife of the late Amoneeta Sequoyah, Sr.

She is survived by her daughters, Marie Carroll and Rachel Mathis of Cherokee, Vera Wildcat and husband, John, of Cherokee, and Mary Swayney and husband, Ben of Sylva, son, Amoneeta Sequoyah, Jr. and wife, Kathy of Cherokee, brother, Edward Pheasant of Cherokee, 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday in the Chapel of Crisp Funeral Home in Bryson City.
The Revs. James "Bo" Parris and Tom Harris will officiate. Burial will be in Hill Cemetery on Soggy Hill Road.
