BAKER, Melvin "Mel" Carnell

A longtime resident of Colville, WA passed away on February 15, 2009 in Colville, at the age of 86. He was born on Nov. 10, 1922 in Ford, WA the son of Wayne Charles and Leona (Stone) Baker. He was a member of the Washington Water Power Trailblazers, V.F.W. and International Brotherhood of Electric Workers.

Mel was preceded in death by his daughter, Gaylene in 1997 and brothers, Orville, Kyle, Eldon and Gordon 'Ting'.

Mel is survived by his wife, Nan Baker, at the home; sons, Kenneth Baker and his wife, Tina of Colville, Paul Baker and his wife, Rolla, Kettle Falls, Stephen Baker and his wife, Mayte of Spokane, WA; His sisters, Edna Norris and her husband, Floyd, Springdale, Vesta Gearhart and her husband, Harold, Ford, WA; nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

A Rosary will be held at 9:00 a.m. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 20, 2009 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Colville, WA. A graveside service will follow the Mass at 3:00 p.m., at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Spokane, WA. Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice.
