Born Feb. 10, 1904, in Letterkenny Township, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin F. and Mae Cohick Mackey.
She had lived in Walden for 55 years.
Mrs. Hays was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Chambersburg and was a former member of First Reformed Church of Walden.
A graduate of Chambersburg High School, class of 1926, and graduate of the former Cumberland Valley State Normal School (now Shippensburg University). She attended New Paltz (N.Y.) University.
For four years, she taught school in Franklin County and for 25 years in Valley Central School District, Walden.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Hays, in June 1940; a son in November 1940; four brothers; and two sisters.
Surviving are a sister, Marion Cromwell of Penn Hall Menno Haven; nieces; and nephews.
