He advocated for the rights of the LGBTQ community in the area. in 1970, he graduated at U.C. in Davis, California. in 1973, he earned the Juris Doctor's degree at the Boalt Hall Law School at U.C. Berkeley. Disler was the Captain of Armor at the United States Army Reserve from 1970 to 1981. He was one of many secretly gay lawyers who fought against the discrimination against the LGBTQ community. He started San Francisco's Non-Partisan LGBTQ PAC. He also served as California's Democratic Party Treasurer. He advocated for LGBTQ civil rights in Sacramento. He was also the two time chair person for the Lobby for Individual Freedon and Equality. He served as steward of the San Francisco Episcopal Diocese. He died of the AIDS Virus in 1994.
