He was born Nov. 21, 1922, in Oil City, the son of Peter Daniel and LuVera Hess Ausel.
Mr. Ausel was a member of the West Side United Methodist Church.
He retired from the Penelec Power Plant having worked there since its inception as shift supervisor.
Mr. Ausel was a member of the Venango Masonic Lodge.
He was a pilot and loved to fly, and was proud to have taught his wife to fly as well. He also loved farming, and was devoted to his family.
Mr. Ausel is survived by a daughter, Jill E. Ausel of Pittsburgh; a son, John E. Ausel of Sigel; a granddaughter, Katie A. Penoyer and her husband, Bradley S., of Clearfield; three great-grandchildren: Benjamin Leighow, Addison and Avanelle Penoyer; and a sister, Beatrice Ausel of Clarion.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Barbara B. Barnes Ausel, whom he married Oct. 30, 1953, in Rouseville, and who passed away on April 2, 2014; and a sister, Betty Crouch.
Funeral services will be held at Bennett and Houser Funeral Home Inc., Clearfield at noon Monday, July 21, 2014, with Rev. Dr. Joleen A. Willis officiating.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday, July 21, from 10 a.m. until the hour of the services.
Burial will be in Donahey Hills Cemetery, Millstone Township, Elk County.
