She was born in Sunderland on Feb. 18, 1925, the daughter of Stanley and Zelma (Acus) Grigonis.
She graduated from Amherst High School and Northampton Commercial College.
She had been a resident of Greenfield since 1952.
Nellie was a legal secretary for the firms of Blassberg, O'Neil and Sokolowsky and later for Callahan, Curtiss, Carey and Gates.
She was a communicant of Holy Trinity Church.
Nellie devoted much of her time to helping the causes of the Former Massachusetts State Troopers Association.
She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family.
She was predeceased by her husband, Sgt. James H. Marshall of the Massachusetts State Police, on October 21, 1960.
Survivors include two daughters, Christine M. Ainsworth of Deerfield, and Patricia A. Pacelli of Littleton, six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two sons, James A. and Dennis T. Marshall, and a daughter, Jean Marie Marshall.
Services will be held Tuesday at 8:15 a.m. from Kostanski Funeral Home, 220 Federal Street, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in Holy Trinity Church with Monsignor Ronald G. Yargeau, pastor, officiating.
Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery in South Deerfield.
Calling hours will be held Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
