Son of Patrick Doyle and Jane Wilson of Cowpen, Northumberland, England. Married 30 Nov 1864 to Maria Wealland/Wealleans who died in 1885. Married Catharine Doyle, widow of James Devine, at DuBois in 1887.

Obituary:
James Doyle died at the home of his step son, Johnnie Devine, on Friday morning at 2 o clock. The deceased was 70 years of age and had spent many of his years in Dubois. He is survived by his wife and four children, Edna, Jennie, Maghie and William. Mr. Doyle was for many years an athletic trainer and had secured much success along this line. The services will be conducted at 2 o clock Sunday afternoon at the St. Catherine's church. The deceased had been afflicted with chronic heart trouble, and had been seriously Ill for the past year.
