The Goodrich Genealogy erred in suggesting David Goodrich, b. of record Sept. 2, 1724 in Wethersfield as the eldest recorded son of Dea. David Goodrich and Hepzibah Boardman, may have married. In Dea. David Goodrich's Mar. 2, 1778 will at Wethersfield, no son named David is included, no heirs of a son named David are included, and the distribution of Dea. Goodrich's estate did not include to a son, or heirs of a son, named David. Whether Dea. Goodrich's son David did or did not reach manhood is irrelevant as he was not one and the same of the David Goodrich who died of record in Wethersfield in 1802. Josiah Goodrich, father of the herein described David Goodrich, was Dea. David Goodrich's oldest brother, and it would appear likely that Josiah's son David was named for Dea. David Goodrich's son David who died in infancy.
David Goodrich, s. of Josiah, is not named in his father's will of 1731 at Tolland, Conn., but a guardian was subsequently appointed for him, and as the youngest son David shared in the distribution of his father's estate. He is also included in his widowed mother Sarah (Mix) Goodrich's will of November 9, 1747 at Wethersfield:
• I give to my beloved sons John and David Goodrich all my lands lying in the Townships of Wethersfield and Middletown which descendeth to me by my brother Elisha Mix decd, and which I purchased of my sister Christian Mix, to be equally divided between them.
• I give to my son David my silver tankard.
• I give to my sd. sons John and David all my moveable or personal estate not yet mentioned that shall be remaining after my just debts are paid, equally between them.
On May 1, 1755 in Wethersfield, Conn., David Goodrich, son of Josiah, m. Hannah Boardman, dau. of Cornet Joseph Boardman and Mary Belden, b. of record Apr. 20, 1736 in Wethersfield. She d. Feb. 8, 1818 in Wethersfield, Æ 82 (g.s.) They purportedly had eleven children with specific dates of birth, but none appear in the Wethersfield town records and only four appear in the Wethersfield church baptism records: John, Sarah, Hannah, Rhoda, Abigail, David Jr., Anna, Moses, Samuel, Simeon, and Levi.
Neither David nor his widow Hannah have known probate records in Connecticut.
