Mr. Albert L. "Butch" Buttry, 73, of Morris, Ill., passed away in Morris Hospital, with his family at his bedside, on Monday, July 1, 2013. Born May 12, 1940, in Morris, he was the son of the late Lowry and Violet (Benson) Buttry. Butch was raised and educated in the Morris schools, graduating from Morris High School with the Class of 1958. On May 2, 1964, he married Judy Carlson in Immaculate Conception Church in Morris. With the help of friends, he built the home in Morris where he and Judy lived together for 49 years..


Butch worked as a painter and was a member of the Joliet Painter's Union Local 33. He served in the Illinois National Guard and was a lifelong member of the Masonic Lodge. In 2012, Butch received his 50-
year pin as a Masonic Member. Considered a Master Mason, he was Past Master of Cedar Lodge 124.
He was also a member of the Morris Eagle Lodge, Moose Lodge and social member of the VFW and American Legion..


Butch especially loved spending time with his family and friends at their cabin on the Fox River and at Lazy Acres, where he was a charter member. After his retirement in 2000, he took up woodworking as a hobby, and took great joy in sharing his crafts with everyone. Butch was an avid St. Louis Cardinal Fan..


Surviving is his wife, Judy; one daughter, Amy (Jeff) Gagliano of New Lenox, Ill.; two granddaughters, Emily and Claire; one sister, Wanda Such of Joliet, Ill.; several nieces and nephews; and many life-long friends..


Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 4, at the U. C. Davis-Callahan Funeral Home in Morris. Masonic Services will be conducted at 6:30 pm. Funeral Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 5, in the funeral home, with Pastor Scott McClellan officiating. Burial will be in Sample Cemetery.
