Carl L. Gerwick, 74, passed away Tuesday, February 8, 2005, at Shawnee Mission Hospital, Shawness Mission, KS. Carl was born April 23, 1930, to Charles Gerwick and Mary Novotny Gerwick in Fairbury, NE. He attended Fairbury schools followed by graduation from the University of Nebraska, 1951. He graduated from Officer's Candidate School, Fort Benning, GA, as a Second Lieutenant, followed by service in the Korean War. He was decorated with the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He had a long and very successful career in farm insurance. Upon retiring from Great American Insurance Company he joined his wife in their company, C.L. Gerwick & Associates, as comptroller. He was a member of the American Legion and Bethany Lutheran Church. He is survived by his wife of 48 years Clara, three sons, four grandchildren, and a brother. His parents and one brother preceded him in death. He was a very loving husband, father, and friend. He will be sorely missed.
