Sophia was born in Hungary to Juliana Matisz. She had a younger brother Joseph. I am unsure who their father was. They came to America with their mother Juliana around 1886/88. Juliana Matisz remarried to Joseph Wargo and he gave them his last name.She married Nicholas Vernel. He was a boarder at her home that she shared with her parents and siblings. This is how she met him. Together they had four children.
