HARRODSBURG, Ky., June 7 (Special) Col. Bacon Rochester Moore. 79. retired Harrods- burg attorney and organizer of the 38th Tank Company here, died at 3:45 o'clock Monday afternoon at his home on the Old Danville Road after a long illness. A native of Mercer County, he was a graduate of the Univer sity of Kentucky and did further studies at Transylvania University. He was admitted to the bar in 1910 and admitted to practice in the Court of Appeals in 1919. He farmed and practiced law until he entered military service in 1917. During World War I he served as a second lieu tenant. He was a former member of the Kentucky Disabled Ex-Service Men's Board. He served as special U. S. attorney. Department of Justice, at- tad to Lands Divison, in both the Eastern and Western Districts of Kentucky. When he organized the 38th Tank Com pany in 1932, he was promoted to the rank of major and placed in command. He held the rank of lieutenant colonel when the company was shipped overseas as Company D, 197th Tank Battalion. The unit participated in the Bataari Death March in World War n. Colonel Moore was president of the Mercer County Bar Association; was a member of Douglas Laws Post, American Legion, and a Department of Kentucky. He was a former member of the Civil War Round Table and the Kentucky State Historical Society, former state chaplain of the Huguenot Society, a member of Kappa Alpha fraternity and the Kappa Alpha Lawyers Club. He was a deacon and elder of Harrodsburg Christian Church over 30 years Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Eula Ben Conley Moore; two daughters, Mrs. Wlnthron Hop- son. Cadiz, and Mrs. William D. Oldham, Washington, D. C; a son. Dr. Bacon R. Moore III, Harrodsburg, and several grandchildren. Funeral services will be con ducted at 2:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at Bruner and Sims Funeral Home by the Rev. James N. Kelly and the Rev. ChMes S. Perry. Military rites will be held in Spring Hill Cemetery.
