From Stone Sloops:
HILL, CAPTAIN DAVID NELSON (born 1841) son of Captain David and Ann Sawyer Hill. He married (1) Serena L. Littlefield (2) Lucretia E. Duncan. He built the house (#12) where his daughter Nellie Hill Hamilton now lives. He built the sloop Annie May and named it after his daughter. Later when he was Captain of the Island Belle and after he had lost his first wife, he took his daughters Nellie and Bessie slooping with him during their summer vacations. His son Freeland crewed. See Sloops Annie May, Island Belle, Schooner Express.

Married Syrena F. Littlefield, December 17, 1863, Chebeague Island.

Married Lucetia E. (Duncan) (Scatina) December 6, 1892, Rockland, Maine. Her first husband was Charles Scatina. Her third husband was Ezekiel J. Rose whom she married December 14, 1902, Chebeague Island.

Cause of death: cerebral hemorrhage.

His grandson Henry Decatur Hill died in World War I.

David Hill (132795038)

Suggested edit: He is enumerated in the household of David Hill & Phebe in the 1860 census as "David N. Henly". In 1841, the year of David N.'s birth, David Sr.'s first wife, Ann, died and David remarried Ann's sister, Phebe, widow of John Henly. It would appear that David N. was the son of John Henly & Phebe and stepson of David Hill. Perhaps David Sr. adopted him and David N. assumed the Hill surname.

The 1860 census for Cumberland, Cumberland Co., Maine, Chebeague Island
(Ancestry.com image 41 of 44):
. David Hill, age 53, farmer, $1500 real estate, $300 personal estate, he
& entire household born in Maine.
. Phebe S., age 46.
. Matilda A., age 31.
. Horace, age 19, seaman
. David N. Henley, age 19, seaman
[There seems to be some confusion re. the above two individuals. "Stone Sloops of Chebeague" states that Horace was the son of Phebe & her first husband, John Henley, and that David N. was the son of David Hill & Phebe. It also states that David's first wife, Ann, died in 1841, the year that both Horace & David N. were born. Judging from the surnames given in the census, it would appear that Ann probably died shortly after giving birth to Horace and that David N. was the last son of Phebe and the recently deceased John Henly (i.e. David's stepson)]
. William F. Hanson ?, age 30, seaman, real estate valued at $100,
personal estate valued at $50.
. Lucretia, age 26.
