Aaron Matthew Emery, 20, passed away 10:16 a.m. Friday, July 4, 2014, in Franklin Hospital in Benton.

Aaron was born July 20, 1993, in Carbondale to Anthony Emery and Renee Strange-Emery.

He was employed with Bob Rice Construction in West Frankfort.

Aaron loved being outdoors and lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed playing soccer, hiking, rock climbing and rock hunting. He also enjoyed listening to music. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

He attended Cornerstone Church in Marion.

Survivors include his twin brother, Adam Emery of Marion; father and stepmother, Anthony and Melanie Emery of Johnston City; mother, Renee Emery of Marion; paternal grandparents, Mickey and Elizabeth Emery of Carrier Mills; maternal grandmother, Caroline James of Bushnell; stepgrandparents, Larry and Cheri Litton of Johnston City; paternal great-grandmother, Wilma Jean Emery of Marion; maternal great-grandmother, Ollie Strange of Bushnell; several uncles and aunts, Gary and Sheila Harris of Carrier Mills, Clayton (Janell) Litton of Marion, James Braden of West Frankfort, Phillip Braden of Herrin and Michelle Streeb of Highland; cousins, Nathan (Gretchen) Harris, Carrie (Trevor) Moore, Kaitlin Streeb, Kaleb Streeb and Hayley Koelz; several great-aunts and great-uncles; and close family friends, Harold and Veronica Woolard, both of whom were like grandparents to Aaron.

He was preceded in death by his paternal great-grandfather, William Glen Emery; paternal great-grandmother, Fern Harris; and maternal great-grandfather, Clifford Strange.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 8, in Journey Church of Southern Illinois on Illinois 37, north of Marion, with the Revs. Rudy Bond, Tim Buehler and Darrin Clark officiating. Interment will follow in Rosehill Cemetery in Marion. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at Pyle Funeral Home in Johnston City and 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Marion Soccer Association. Memorial envelopes will be available at the funeral home or church on the day of the services.
