He was born on April 2, 1911, in Ohio, the son of Willis S. Fenstermaker and Berdena Guhl. The parents were native to Pennsylvania and Ohio, respectively.

Burial at Ivy Lawn Cemetery, Ventura, on January 15, 1997.

Willis was the widower of Rufina Meyer Fenstermaker who died on February 15, 1995.
