H^ studied law, was admitted to the Philadelphia Bar in 1882, and has since practiced in Philadelphia. He is a member of the Athletic Association, General Alumni Society and Archaeological Association of the University, the Law Association of Philadelphia and the University, Germantown Cricket and Philadelphia Cricket Clubs of Philadelphia and Royal Portrush Golf Club of Portrush, Ireland.
