Jacob was born in Apfelstetten, Wuerttemberg, Germany. His father was Georg Friedrich Haueisen, born 18 Jun 1814 in Apfelstetten. Georg, his wife, Rebekka nee Haberle, and sons, Jacob Friedrich, George Friedrich [later: Frederick George or F.G.] and Johannes, emigrated to the U.S. in 1854.

Jacob and his brother, F.G., established a fruit and produce market at 1000 N. Third St. in St. Louis in 1877. (The address of the market in 1879 was 1006 Broadway.) Their sons, Jacob F. Jr., John G., Jacob J., and Frederick, Jr. became Commission Merchants in the produce market establish by their fathers.

Jacob married Magdalena nee Fischer at Immanuel Lutheran Church in St. Louis on 20 April 1873 by the Rev. J. F. Buenger. They had five children: Jacob F., Jr., John G., Magdalena M., Frederick H., and William E. They lived at 3123 Rauschenbach Avenue in North St. Louis. (Magdalena and the wife of F.G. Haueisen, Marie Ursula Haueisen, were sisters.)

Jacob died in his home on 5 September 1921 at the age of 77 and is buried in New Bethlehem Memorial Park Cemetery, 9650 Bellefontaine Rd., in St. Louis, MO.
