Funeral services for Opal Maze, 96 of Pryor, will be held on Monday, July 14, 2014 at 2:00 PM at the First Freewill Baptist Church in Pryor. Rev. Ray Gwartney and Rev. Tim Hodges will officiate with burial following at Bryan Chapel Cemetery at Boatman.

Viewing will be held on Sunday afternoon from 12- 6 PM. Services are under the direction of Key Funeral Home in Pryor.

Opal Bernice Maze was born on May 25, 1918 in Salina to William Elize and Della Gay (Shrum) Wise. She passed away on Friday, July 11, 2014 in Pryor at the age of 94.

Opal grew up in Salina. She was married to Robert Jesse Davis and from their union came four children. Opal and Robert lived in Mayes County where they had a small farm in the Boatman community and Opal worked for the Wilson Sewing Factory.

Opal later married Paul Maze in the late 1950's and they made their home in Pryor. Opal was a clerk at Sharpe's Dept. Store in Pryor for 15 years. She and Paul loved to go fishing and spend time at Ft. Gibson lake camping. Opal enjoyed having fish fry's at her house and inviting friends and family. She and Paul also loved taking drives and finding new places to eat and also did some travelling. Opal was a very active member and volunteer at the First Free Will Baptist Church in Pryor. She began volunteering at the church in the nursery because she loved babies and children then later began volunteering in the kitchen which she later became head of. She also taught Sunday school and VBS.

Opal loved her family and loved her grandkids and great grandkids dearly. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many.

She is survived by her daughter Mirietues Buchanan and husband Willard of Pryor and her son Robert Davis of Chouteau; four grandsons Riley Buchanan, Michael Downs, Darrell Downs and Willard Buchanan Jr; 9 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Paul, 2 daughters, Connie and Robbie, 3 brothers and 6 sisters.
