OBITUARY Iron County Reporter Sep 5 2001 "Obituaries: Alan Aldegarie"
SANTA BARBARA, Calif.--Alan Jon Aldegarie, 55, formerly of Caspian, died unexpectedly Aug. 11.
He was born Aug. 19, 1945 in Stambaugh, the son of Zara (Zini) and the late Santo Aldegarie. He grew up in Caspian and graduated from the Stambaugh High School in 1963. While in high school he was part of the 1963 All Conference Menominee Range 1st Basketball team and was named All Conference U.P. Player of the Year. He entered the U.S. Air Force in 1963 and served until his honorable discharge in 1971 as a staff sergeant. He moved to Goleta, Calif. where he was employed as the chief of maintenance at the Dos Pueblo Ranch until 1992. He then became the head of security at the Radisson Hotel in Santa Barbara until his retirement earlier this year. He was preceded in death by his father in September 1979.
He is survived by a son Alan Jon Jr. of Los Angeles, Calif.; his mother of Caspian; two sisters, Louise Boele of Caspian and Joanne Aldegarie of Green Bay, Wis.; two brothers, Joe (Sandy) of Missoula, Mont. and Paul (Chris) of Iron River; and 24 nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 5 at 11 a.m. at the Stambaugh Cemetery with the Rev. Fr. Otto Sartorelli officiating. Members of the West Side Veterans Council will accord graveside military rites.
Immediately following the services a memorial luncheon will be held at St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Caspian.
Langenberg Funeral Home-Stambaugh Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
