William P. "Bill" Ament, 65, of Beatrice died on Thursday, July 10, 2014.

He was born on August 12, 1948 at Beatrice, attended St. Joseph's grade and high school where he graduated in 1966. He then attended Fairbury Jr. College, John J. Pershing College and Peru State College where he excelled in his business administration courses.

He was drafted into the United States Army in 1969 and served in the infantry during combat in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in 1971 with the rank of Sergeant.

He married Linda Munstermann in 1972 and they had one daughter.

He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. He was a past member of Beatrice Optimist Club and the church men's club. He worked at Store Kraft Manufacturing for 28 years.
In 1999, he went to work for Ratigan-Schottler as plant superintendent.

He enjoyed working with woods and matching stains, creating items for his grandchildren and made sleds and a rocking horse. In his spare time, he loved to attend the many events of his grandchildren. Bill loved to watch the creative movements and dances of his granddaughter Addy and was a strong supporter of Tucker at all of his sporting events. He was an avid reader, gardener, loved collecting antiques and had a love for horses which he shared with his brother. He was a master story teller.

Survivors include his wife, Linda of Beatrice; daughter, Missy Timmerman and husband Ryan of Beatrice; two grandchildren, Addy and Tucker Timmerman; four brothers, James Ament and wife Ann of Bloomington, IL, Bob Ament and wife Rowena of Nixa, MO, Tom Ament and wife Marcella of Burr and Mike Ament of Denton; three sisters, Judi Knowles and husband Phil and Patty Ramsey and husband Mike all of Beatrice and Mary Jo Trebold of Omaha; two brothers-in-law, Roland Munstermann and wife Carol of Omaha and Eugene Munstermann and wife Peg of Villisca, IA; sister-in-law, Bonnie Riekenberg and husband Kevin of Beatrice; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Barney and Iola Wilkinson Ament and his parents-in-law, Edwin and Margaret Munstermann.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, July 14, 2014 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church of Beatrice with Father Thomas McGuire, Celebrant.

Burial will be in the St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery of Beatrice. A Scriptural Rosary Service will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Sunday, July 13, 2014 at Fox Funeral Home. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home from noon Saturday until 9:00 P.M. Sunday and not at the church on Monday.

Military honors will be conducted by the Bitting-Norman Post #27 of the American Legion of Beatrice. A memorial has been established to Veterans Memorial Park.
