Willie Barnes, Jr., 42, of 1909 Lambert Street, Lumberton, died at 5:15 a.m. Saturday in Southeastern General hospital after an illness of only a few hours.
Funeral services are being conducted at 3 p.m. today in Saddletree Church of God by Rev. Millard Maynor, Rev. K. P. Gields and Rev. C.C. Allen. Burial will be in Ten Mile Center church cemetery.
He was a veteran of World War II and operated a grocery and market on Elizabethtown road.
Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Eula Mae Jacobs Barnes; four sons, Jimmy, Willie Earl, Harry West and Neal Archie Barnes of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Betty Grace Oxendine and Mrs. Dorothy Jane Spaulding of Philadelphia, Pa., and Miss Darlene Barnes of the home; a brother, Melton Barnes of Lumberton; and three sisters, Mrs. Lucille Hunt of Pembroke, Mrs. Getie Goins of Washington, D.C., and Mrs. Susie Neil Chavis of McColl, S.C.
