SGT. THOMAS A. HALL DIES IN GERMANY
S. Sgt. Thomas A. Hall, 38 years of age, died in Frankfurt on the Main, Germany, on July 9th. His wife, the former Blanche Drake, Sioux City, has been informed by the War Department. No details accompanied the wire.
A letter dated July 7 was received by Mrs. Hall Tuesday from her husband, stating that he was in good health at the time. Their little daughter, Caroline, who Sgt. Hall had never seen, celebrated her first birthday July 13.
Sgt. Hall was born December 30, 1907, at Jackson, where he attended public schools and was graduated from the Jackson High School. He attended Trinity College in Sioux City and the University of Nebraska. In civilian life he was in the insurance business.
Sgt. Hall entered military service in February, 1942, and went overseas in November 1943, serving as payroll clerk with the Ninth Army Air Forces in England, France and Germany. He was awarded the good conduct medal and the bronze service star.
Besides his wife and daughter, he is survived by six sisters, Mrs. Angela Casey and Mrs. Gertrude Long, both of Hubbard, Mrs. Pauline Manley of Dakota City, Mrs. Eleanor Kuehn of Sidney, Nebr., and Mrs. Madeline Schindler and Mrs. Bonnie Feenew of San Rafael, Calif., and five brothers, Harold C. of South Sioux City, Raymond E. of Waterloo, Iowa, Joseph of Akron, Colo., Ryan S. in the U.S. Navy, Ambrose in the Merchant Marines.
Memorial services were held at 7:30 a.m. Monday in the Immaculate Conception Church in Sioux City.
