William D. Fyke died Monday, May the Ninth, after an illness of about two months. Funeral services were held at the home near Cedar Hill, Tuesday afternoon by the Rev. William Goodman and interment took place at Elmwood Cemetery, Springfield.

He was the son of the late Jeremiah and Bedie Fyke, and a brother of the late Dr. B. F. Fyke, of Springfield, a prominent and greatly beloved physician.

He was born, reared and lived all his life and died on the same farm; the longest he was ever away from the old home was in 1875 when he went to wed the woman of his choice, Miss Matilda Jane Adams. Aside from this short trip of two weeks, he spent practically all his life there. He was 75 years old.

He and his wife were charter members of the Lebanon Baptist Church, which was founded near Barren Plains and when this church ceased to function they moved their membership to Cedar Hill Baptist Church, where he was a member of the board of deacons and one of the leading spirits of the church.

He is survived by the following children: Mrs. E. W. Lunsford, Mrs. Cleveland Fisher, Mrs. Boyd Fisher of Milldale; Thomas J. Fyke and J. V. Fyke of Fykes's Grove. He was an uncle of Dr. Foster Fyke and George Elmer Fyke of Springfield.
