Funeral services were held at the Pettijohn & Crawford Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 9, for Mrs. Lee (Dora) Browning, who died unexpectedly Friday evening, Jan. 7, 1966, at her home here. The Rev Floyd John Evans officiated. Interment was in the Mount Hope Cemetery.
Mrs. Browning had apparently been as well as usual until just a short time before her death. The daughter of Archibald and Eliza Reynolds Fleener, she was born June 16, 1895 in Holt county and had spent her entire life near or in Mound City. She was a member of the Christian Church, the Mary Rebekah Lodge, and several clubs.
On Jan. 22, 1914, she was united in marriage to LeeRoy Browning and they observed their 50th wedding anniversary in 1964. Three of their five children preceded her in death, Frederick Ivan on Jan. 31, 1935; Denzil James, on Sept. 15, 1943 and Mrs. Dorothy Whitford, July 10, 1961. She was also preceded by her parents; a half-sister, Mrs. William McKnight and a half-brother, Lester Fleener.
Survivors include her husband of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Garney (Nellie) Bower, one son, Robert Lee Browning, both of Mound City; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two half brothers, Perry and Jesse Fleener, Mound City; several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were James Schoonover, Tracy Burge, Clarence Catron, Albert Burge, Ralph Kinder and S.C. Combs.
