Ruth Allison Gayle, age 86, of Guntersville passed away at her home on July, 6, 2014.
Miss Gayle, daughter of George and Annie Wallace Gayle, was born October 30, 1927 in Marshall County. She graduated in 1946 from Kate Duncan Smith, DAR School as Valedictorian of her class. She attended Business School in Nashville, Tennessee.

She was past President of The Pilot Club of Guntersville, The Guntersville Garden Club, The DAR School Alumni Association, The Mountain Valley Group, National Association of Bank Women, and the Cosmopolitan Club. She was on the CASA of Marshall County Board for twenty years, serving as treasurer.

She was a member of the Heroes of Kings Mountain Chapter, NSDAR where served as treasurer for twenty years. She was a member of the Guntersville Lake Home Makers Club. She was Chairman of her Retired Bankers Group, The Gayle Family Association, and the Swearengin Girls. Having worked forty two years at the First National Bank, she retired on December 31, 1985. She was appointed Assistant Vice President in 1968.

Miss Gayle is survived by her sisters, June Gayle Troup and Earlene Gayle Sanders; her nieces, Charlene Pace (Billy Earl), Rhonda Moore, Charis Bonds (Pete Patterson), and Shelia Self (Joe); her nephews Jimmy (Bo) McBride (Trudy), Joe Wayne McBride (Carol), Paul Gayle, Harold Gayle (Sandra), Tommy Troup, and Jackie Sanders (Marilyn); twenty one great nieces and nephews and 10 great-great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Charlotte Gayle McBride, brothers Wallace Gayle and H. Jean Gayle, nephews Dwight Sanders, Jerry McBride, and Johnny McBride, and great nephew Wesley Johnston.

Miss Gayle was of the Methodist faith and a huge Atlanta Braves Baseball fan.
