George Dewey Edwards, 56, native and lifelong resident of Alva, died at his residence Monday night. Surviving, including his wife Mrs. Mary Thigpin Edwards, are: son, Cortiz Edwards, Fort Myers; daughter, Mrs. Ruth Gulsey, Jacksonville and Miss Helen Edwards, Gainesville; brother, Jake Edwards, Alva; sisters, Mrs. Ivan Lippincott and Mrs. Reuben Corbitt of Alva.
Funeral will be held at 10 o'clock at Alva Methodist Church with Rev. J. H. James, pastor, officiating. Interment in Alva Cemetery. Pallbearers: Bill Blackburn, Ivan McCann, Dan English, Kenneth Daniel, Ray Seagraves and Nathan Walker. Arrangements by Young-Harvey, funeral director. (Fort Myers News-Press, 7/1/1954)
