ALEX - Clarence G. Alex, 65, R.R. 2, Winnebago, died at 1:30 p.m. Sunday July 7, 1963, in Four Lakes Forest Preserve after a heart attack. Born Nov. 6, 1897, in Dana, Ill., son of Mr. and Mrs. John Alex. Moved to Stillman Valley with his parents when he was 2. He had resided on a farm in Burritt Township near Winnebago for the past 27 years. Married to the former Edith Johnson in Chicago June 14, 1919. Had been a farmer in the Rockford vicinity and Burritt Township for 45 years. He had been semi-retired and driving a school bus for Pecatonica schools for the past six years. Charter member of Bethesda Evangelical Covenant Church, Rockford; past mast of Burritt Grange and a member of the Winnebago County Farm Bureau. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Mrs. Hildur Johnson.

Survivors include: his widow; one son, John F., R.R. 2, Winnebago; one daughter, Mrs. Robert Lightfoot, Denver; four grandchildren, Ronnie and Diane Lightfoot of Denver, and Sandy and Randy Alex of Winnebago; three brothers, Lawrence and Emmett, both of Rockford, and Even, Clay Center, Kan.; two sisters, Mrs. Paul Eklund, Rockford, and Mrs. Madeline Bleakley, Denver.

Services at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Bethesda Evangelical Covenant Church, 118 Washington St., Rockford, with the Rev. Theodore E. Franklin, pastor, officiating. Burial in Burritt Community Cemetery. Friends may call at WIlbur Christenson Funeral Home, 925 3rd Ave., Rockford, from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
