Obit: Died at her home in this village, Buffalo, Saturday, March 10th, 1894, after a short illness. Mrs. Emily Bunce in the eightieth year of her age. Mrs. Bunce whose maiden name was Emily Barber, was born at Norwich, Connecticut of old Puritan stock, her ancestors in a direct line having come over in the May Flower. When a young woman, she was a student at the famous Oberlin College, Ohio, where she met her future husband, the Rev. Edwin S. Bunce, who was also then a student there, and the acquaintance there formed ripened into an attachment that led to their happy marriage 49 years ago. After their marriage they removed to Wisconsin and thence to Minnesota and during 44 years she was her husband's helper while he was actively engaged as a Methodist Episcopal minister. Her life was a very active one and was devoted to doing good, which is the highest measure of human ambition and of human success. Five children were born to them, three girls and two boys. Two of these children died in early childhood, one lived to the age of twenty-one and one to the age of 30, only one is now living, A.P. Bunce of this village. Mr. and Mrs. Bunce have been residents of this village for only a few months and her husband, enfeebled in age, survives her. The funeral was on last Sunday from the M.E. Church, the Rev. Shannon conducting the funeral services, and her body was laid to rest in our village cemetery. The church was filled with a large congregation of our citizens to pay their last respects to the memory of the dead.

(Note from the Wright County Historical Society:) The bodies placed in old village cemetery were transferred to the Lakeview Cemetery of Buffalo. The place where the old village cemetery used to be is now the site of one of the local nursing homes.
