Charles Roy Keys was born in Massilion, Ohio on August 12, 1896. The son of Mary Viola Hoover and William James Keys. He was brother to Bert Earl and Mabel Leona (Mayhew) Keys. Most of his life was spent working on the railroad, his first experience starting in the round house with his brother Bert when they were very young. He worked for the B&O, Wheeling & Lake Erie and Nickle Plate Railroads as well as many others, ending his career as an engineer with the Nickle Plate in Toledo, Ohio. He married Mabel Bell Barr Keenan ( Keenan her first husbands name) on September 17, 1917. He raised Kenneth, her son from that time on. He was married fifty eight years to Mabel. He was the sun, moon, and stars to me, he was always there, and in many ways my father figure. He died in Homestead, Florida in September of 1980. Buried next to his wife Mabel, he is more than missed and never forgotten.
