Unable to locate a marker, but he was definitely buried in this cemetery. The obituary in a Bastrop newspaper reported on his death as follows: "The remains of the late George D. Russell were followed to their last resting place by one of the largest processions of Mason and citizens we have ever witnessed in Bastrop. All the stores and business houses were closed and the utmost respect shown to the memory of one who was universally beloved by all." (REF: Southern Kith and Kin, volume 4) His widow and 4 young children returned to their home state of Mississippi and are reported there in the 1880 census of Lee County. George Dallas Russell formed a partnership with the Bastrop law firm of Jones and Sayers in 1873 and was Bastrop County Attorney at the time of his death.
