OTTOVILLE - Eugene A. Schmitt, 52, of Spring Lake, Mich., and formerly of here, died at 6:20 p.m. Saturday at his home.
Surviving is his mother, Mrs. Robert Fortener of here; his wife, Winifred; two daughters, Mrs. David (Carol) Anderson of Muskegon, Mich., and Leslie, at home; five sons, Carl of Pawpaw, Mich., Paul of Muskegon, Mich., Jeffrey of Nunica, Mich., Daniel of Norfolk, Va., and Frank, at home; five grandchildren; three half-sisters, Mrs. Joseph (Helen) Bottorff of Zanesville, Ind., Mrs. Norman (Karen) Osting of Troy and Mrs. Roger (Frances) Wurst of Delphos; two half-brothers, Elmer of Delphos and John of South Gate, Mich.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a 1940 graduate of Ottoville High School.
Mass of Resurrection will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Catholic Church in Spring Lake, Mich., Rev. Joseph Mallowitz celebrant. Burial will be in St. Marys Cemetery, here.
Local arrangements are being made by Kolkmeyer-Helmkamp Funeral Home. The family requests memorials be made to Red Cross blood bank and the American Cancer Society.
