A celebration of Darlene's life will be held at Streamside Assisted Living, 1355 Edgewater Circle, (in Nampa off of Iowa) on Saturday, Oct. 6, at 1:30 p.m. Please wear your BSU Orange and Blue as this will be a celebration of her life as she would've wanted nothing less.
As a young adult, Darlene was just hours shy of receiving her pilot's license. One of her favorite pastimes was restoring antique vehicles with her father and her children's father, Ed Barnette. Darlene was the light in many people's days and her determination inspired those who knew her as well as those who watched her from afar. Darlene lived her life to its fullest each day despite having Multiple Sclerosis. She was a huge Boise State football fan and one of her most prized possessions was a card that Ian Johnson had signed for her one day when she saw him when she was out for lunch (thank-you Ian!!!). Darlene was a sun worshipper, enjoyed making people laugh and was known to be a bit of a shop-a-holic, if she couldn't get out shopping, suddenly the packages would start arriving.
Darlene is survived by her daughter Jill Diamond; Jill's husband, (the family hero) Malcolm and her son Jake Barnette; his wonderful fiancée Jessica. Not to leave out the "grandkids" Pepper, Nilla, Buddy, Rowdy, and GiGi.
The family would like to thank all who have been involved in her care both short and long term.
