Born to Emma Gladman and William F Thomas. She first married to John Hermann Werdig of Washington, DC. They had 5 living children when Hermann died in 1903. She later then married Rudd. I have not been able to collect much information on her personal life, her daughter Elizabeth is my grandmother, she and her younger sister Annie were taken out of the home and raised by the Sisters of Charity in Maryland.∼When Susan Nancy Thomas was born in April 1865 in District of Columbia, her father, William, was 38 and her mother, Emma, was 23. She was married twice and had two sons and seven daughters only 5 children survived to adulthood. She died on March 21, 1932, in Washington, District of Columbia, at the age of 64, and was buried at Greenmont with James Rudd. Susie's first husband was Herman Werdig, they had 9 children together before he died. She later remarried another man, he lived about 7 years and passed away from war related complications. She then married James H Rudd, Susie had a hard life she worked as a Dry cleaner most of her life. This is my great paternal grandmother~ Saundra
