McMINNVILLE, OR., April 1. --(Special) -- Oliver Harmon Adams died last night at his home in this city, aged 89 year and 6 days. Mr. Adams was married at Galesburg, Ill., in 1846, to Miss Sophia Hills, and with his family started March 9, 1852, for Oregon. They arrived in Yamhill County October 1 of that year and purchased a tract of land from the late John R. McBride, upon which they resided until 1878.
Then Mr. Adams removed to McMinnville, where he engaged in business with the formation of the lumbering and mercantile firm of Jones & Adams, retiring from the firm in 1891. Mrs. Adams died in March, 1902. Twelve children were born to the pioneer couple, eight of whom survive. They are: Mrs. G. W. Jones, Mrs. W. G. Henderson, Mrs. Ada Hill, Austin H. and Miss Inez Adams, of this city; Mrs. W. J. Simonds and Mrs. H. A. Reasoner, of Whatcom, Wash., and Mrs. C. C. Scott, of Portland.
