Harold Lee Arrington, 81 of Vinton, passed away Thursday, July 3, 2014. Harold was born on December 26, 1932, to the late Douglas and Gladys Arrington. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Richard Eugene and Donald Wesley Arrington, a sister, Elizabeth (Jackie) Wade and life companion, Mae Monseur. Harold attended William Byrd High School in Vinton and attended V.P.I. He served in the U.S. Army at the rank of Second Lieutenant. Harold was a 32nd Degree Master Mason belonging to Lakeland Masonic Lodge # 190, Scottish Rite and Kazim Shrine Temple. Harold was self-employed as a manufacturing representative for many years before retiring.
Harold is survived by his aunt, Edna Anderson, cousin, Alfred Anderson (Ann), nieces, Donna Beard (Gene), Donna Childress (David), Phyllis Booth, and Debra Maxey (Steve); nephews, Richard Arrington, Randy Arrington, Donald Arrington (Angela), Leslie Arrington, Tristan Arrington; and a sister-in-law, Kathleen Arrington. He is also survived by great nieces and nephews, Jacob Arrington, Jordan Arrington, Joshua Arrington, Matthew Arrington, Benjamin Arrington, Gwen Hartman (Brian), Chris Beard, Missy Robinson (Ben), and Josh Maxey (Jessica); and friends Donna Turner, Don Turner, Colin Turner, Aaron Turner, Ethan Turner and many loved ones and friends in Bedford, VA.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M. Monday, July 7, 2014 at Oakey's Vinton Chapel with Rev. Mark Washington officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery with Military Honors. The family will receive friends Sunday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home. Arrangements by Oakey's Vinton Chapel.
