FORT WORTH - A.V. Atkins, 85, a retired salesman for Case Cutlery, died Friday in Pensacola, Fla.

Funeral: 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mount Olivet Funeral Home. Burial: Mount Olivet Cemetery.

Mr. Atkins was born May 11, 1910, in Nocona.

He was reared in Nocona and married his wife there in 1936. They moved to Fort Worth in 1942 and in 1945 he opened the A.V. Atkins Saddle Shop on Exchange Street and for many years made custom saddles and boots. One of his saddles is on display in the Cowboy Hall Fame. He retired in 1986 from Case Cutlery after 20 years of service. For the past year he has lived in Pensacola, near his son.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Willie D. Atkins in 1993.
