Funeral Service Honors Gordon McAllister, 68

Funeral services were held in Kanab Tuesday, July 31, 1979 for Gordon Norris McAllister, 68, who died July 28, 1979 in a St. George Hospital.

Mr. McAllister was born May 30, 1991 in Kanab, a son of William F. and Mignonette Adams McAllister. He married Margaret Lucille Hartshorn on July 9, 1940 in Pangutch. He was a lifetime resident kanab. He recently retires as custodian at Kanab High School.

Survivors include his widow of Kanab; sons, Alfred Thomas Johnson, Baldwin Park, Calif.; Gordon Russell McAllister, Glendor, Calif.; daughters, Mrs. Elbert (Lucille) Swapp and Mrs. Orson (Mary Ann) Swapp, both Kanab; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren; brother, Eugene McAllister, St. George; sisters, Grace Millard, Oakland, Calif.; Gwen Visick, Bellevue, Wash.; and Emma Prisbrey, Bringham City.

Funeral services were under the direction of Bishop Dennis Mosdell of the Kanab Second Ward and conducted by counselor Mac Brown.

Family prayer was by Grant Prisbrey and prelude by Zelma Johnson, the opening prayer was offered by Lloyd McAllister. Speakers included Sherry Swapp and John Swapp, both grandchildren of Mr. McAllister. Musical numbers included: "Sometime We'll Understand" by the choir, directed by Dorothy Riddle and accompanie by Zelma Johnson; a vocal duet by Rosalie Hatch and Sharron Bunting, "Going Home", accompanied by Zelma Johnson. The closing number was "It Is Not Secret What God Can Do" by Mac Brown. Wesley McAllister offered the benediction.

Flowers were handled by granddaughters and the Second Ward Relief Society and pallbearers were John Swapp, Frank Swapp, David Brown, Alan McAllister, Gary Cram, Chad Cram.

Interment was in the Kanab City cemetery where the grave was dedicated by Chad Cram.
