Capt. William Winslow Crannell owned and operated a sloop called 'The Rising Sun' navigating the Hudson River for nineteen years between Albany and New York City, carrying freight and passengers. Later he was a barber at 2 Dock St. Albany which is now covered by interstate 787. He was a private in the Revolutioary War under Col Philip Schuyler, Albany County Militia, 3rd Regiment.
