KENTON F. SHUMATE
This community was shocked and saddened to learn Wednesday of the death of Kenton F. Shumate. Death occurred at his home at Healing Springs Monday night, May 27, 1946, following pneumonia and heart complications. Mr. Shumate was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs A. A. Shumate, and was born and reared in Monterey. He was twice married. He is survived by his wife, son Kemper Shumate of Front Royal and daughter, one sister, Mrs. Fanny Sullenberger, Monterey and one brother Rev. Hinkle Shumate of Dumfries, Virginia. Funeral services took place from the Monterey Methodist Church Thursday at eleven o’clock with burial in Monterey cemetery.
