Richard Hatfield Glaspie, 46, of Pooler, Ga., formerly of Trimble County, Ky., died Wednesday, June 6, 2001, at Memorial Hospital in Savannah, Ga.
He was born on Feb. 23, 1955, in Lexington, Ky., the son of Theodore and Mildred Hatfield Glaspie. He spent his early life in Trimble County. He was formerly employed at the Home Depot Distribution Center in Pooler, and at the time of his death was employed as a Honeywell representative to Gulf Stream Aerospace. He was a member of the Westside Christian Church in Pooler, a U.S. Navy veteran who retired after 20 years service, and a veteran of Desert Storm.
Surviving are his wife, Jackie Glaspie; four sons, Richard Aaron Glaspie of Pendleton, Calif., Kevin Daniel Glaspie of Monterey, Calif., Brian Matthew Glaspie and Craig Mitchell Glaspie, both of Pooler; his mother, Mildred H. Laughlin of Lexington; two brothers, Bill Stewart of Charlestown and Tom Stewart of Lexington; two sisters, Marcia Greene of Memphis, Tenn., and Cindy Glaspie of New Albany; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, and his grandparents.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Morgan-Webster-Nay Funeral Home, with burial in Grandview Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, and from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home.
Military rites will be conducted at the graveside by the U.S. Navy Reserves.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the charity of the donor's choice. Cards are available at the funeral home.
