Jordan Ewing Banks died at his father's residence in Washington Co., Ark, March 17 1877.
He was the son of Rev. Jordan Banks & Susannah Banks who died nine years ago, he was born July 5, 1854. He was baptised in infancy by Rev. Tos Sanford, professed faith in Jesus two years ago, and joined the Methodist Church during his last illness.
He was attacked by disease of the lungs & bowels, Aug 27, 1877. He suffered long and severely, but he endured with patience & christian joy the sharpest pangs of disease and the sorrows of parting and death. He talked of dying without fear or regret of Heaven and Jesus with evident delight. Surely he was a trophy of Christianty, his death a proof of it's consolling prayer. He awaits the resurection of the just at Gearing's Chapel Cemetery.
