Great Falls —Theresa Lourine (Ament) Luoma, 95, of Great Falls passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2013 from natural causes at Park Place Nursing Home.
Theresa was born July 10, 1918 in Frazee, MN the daughter of Charles and Ida Ament. She received her education in the Frazee area and worked many different jobs in Minnesota, North Dakota, and Wisconsin prior to moving to Montana as a young woman. It was in Montana where she met her future husband John W. Luoma. John was drafted into the US Army and served his country mostly in the South Pacific from February 1942 until the war ended in 1945. During that same time, Theresa worked in Spokane at an aircraft plant where she performed many different tasks that assisted in the repair of battle damaged aircraft. Upon John's return from the war, Theresa and John were married in Great Falls on November 30, 1945.
Theresa's main focus in life was taking care of her home and family but she also worked several different jobs while raising her boys including working for the school lunch program and as an election judge. She was a Heart Association volunteer, a Cub Scout leader, active in the PTA and was a member of the St. Gerard's Alter Society and the Eagle's Auxiliary. She was a member of St. Gerard's Parish and later on of Holy Spirit Parish. She was an avid gardener and a very accomplished seamstress, cook and baker and enjoyed having folks over for dinner. There was always an extra place at her dinner table as she could just "Drop a couple more potatoes into the pot."
Upon John's retirement from the Anaconda Company in 1971, John and Theresa spent many happy years enjoying retirement through camping, fishing, golfing and playing cards with family and their many friends up until John's death in 2001.
Theresa is survived by her 2 sons, 4 grandchildren, 3 sisters-in-law, and many caring nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; her sister and brother and their spouses; and many loving brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
