He was the son of Ernest and Alvina (Schwieterman) Bruns. On Nov 29, 1958, in McCartyville, he married Lillie Lehmkuhl, who survives in Cranberry Prairie.
Also surviving are two sons: Jeff (Mary Jo) and Mark (Karen), both St. Henry; three daughters: Kathy (Jacque) Borchers, Diane (Ed) Jutte and Lisa (Dan) Tumbusch, all Minster; two brothers: Bob (Florence) and Dennis (Betty), both St. Henry; a sister, Judy (Ed) Bills, Celina; three brothers-in-law: Jim (Phyllis) Lehmkuhl, Sidney, Tom (Rose Ann) Lehmkuhl, Kettering, and Dave (Marlene) Lehmkuhl, Minster; a sister-in-law, Evergreen, CO; and eighteen grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a sister, Jean (Bob) Fortman; a sister-in-law, Mary Ann Lehmkuhl; and two grandchildren: Dale and Emily Bruns.
He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, Cranberry Prairie. He was also a member of Coldwater F.O.E., and the Knights of St. John, Maria Stein. He was the co-owner of Bruns Building, St. Henry, he enjoyed traveling around the world, vacation time with the grandchildren, playing cards and was an avid hunter.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Francis Catholic Church, Cranberry Prairie, with Rev. Thomas Hemm officiating.
