Mrs. Lena Jane (Crates) Bame, 76, died at 7:45 o'clock Saturday evening in the home of a daughter, H.B. Edie, of Portage township, following an illness of 13 months from carcinoma.
Born in Hancock county on May 25, 1862, the daughter of John and Mary (Baldwin) Crates, she has lived in this vicinity nearly all of her lifetime. Edward Bame, her husband preceded her in death 40 years ago.
Of five children born to this union, three daughters, Mrs. Edie, Mrs W.N. Grubaugh, Ada and C.J. Hite, Arlington and a son, Adam Bame of Findlay survive. A daughter Hulda Spacht preceded her mother in death.
There are 21 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, Three sisters, Mrs. Nettie Guy, Oak Harbor, Mrs. Callie Urban, Ludington, Mich, Mrs. Ida Stith, Toledo and a brother, Ed Crates of Ada, also are living.
Mrs Bame was a member of the Brethren church. Funeral services will be conducted in the Eagle Creek Church of the Brethren at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon with Rev J.J. Anglemeyer officiating. Burial will be in Eagle Creek cemetery.
The body was taken to the Coldren funeral home to remain until time for the services.
