Julia Lunette Hodge Campbell, 87, passed away on May 7, 2009 at ElderWood Nursing Home.
She was born Oct. 30, 1921, the daughter of William and Minnie Kinner Hodge. She was an avid canner and enjoyed sewing when her family was younger. In later years she loved going to bingo and doing her beading. She enjoyed her many friends and the staff at ElderWood. She is survived by: her daughters and sons, James and Mary McMinds, Henry and Laura Shadduck, Richard and Kathy Campbell, Henry Campbell, Francis and Bernice Campbell, and Delbert and Shirley Stedge; a sister, Martha Hodge; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Leslie Wells Campbell, on May 9, 1990. She was also predeceased by her sisters and brothers Wade and Marilla Sours, Mahlon and Etta Strope, Nelson and Mary Hodge, Lacey and Bertha Decker, Joseph Hodge, Samuel and Shirley Hodge, Frances and Isabel Hodge, Arnold and Margaret Huhta, Lloyd and Veleta Robinson, and Donald and Sylvia Brimmer. A time for gathering with family and friends will be from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at Blauvelt Funeral Home, 625 Broad St., Waverly, N.Y. The celebration of Julia's life will follow the visitation with the Rev. James Carr honoring her memory at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made to the Chemung Fire Department, P.O. Box 138, Chemung, NY 14825. Burial will be in Chemung Cemetery, Chemung, N.Y.
