Funeral services for Fran Welch, 70, of Portales, will be at 10:00 AM, Sat., July 5, 2014, in the Wheeler Mortuary Chapel with Pat Boone officiating, assisted by Trent Bilberry.
Burial will follow in the Portales Cemetery with Jimmy Dale Ward, Bud Vaughan, Billy Vaughan, James Vaughan, Kasey Vaughan, Kody Vaughan and Rance Inge serving as pallbearers. All other family members and her many friends will be honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Thurs. evening, July 3, 2014, from 6 to 8 PM.
Those desiring to make memorial contributions may send them to the Roosevelt County 4-H in care of the County Extension Office, 705 E. Lime, Portales, NM 88130.
Frances Irene Welch, known virtually to everyone as "Fran", was born Nov. 17, 1943, in Elida, to the home of Lena May(Miller) and Kenneth B. Vaughan, and died early Tues. morning, July 1, 2014, in Lubbock, TX. Fran grew up in Elida, and graduated from Elida High School in 1961. On July 4, 1960, at a rodeo in Elida, she met the love of her life, Johnny Welch, and the were married Feb.9, 1962 in Clovis at the First Baptist Church. They made their home in Portales for the remainder of her lifetime.
She is survived by Johnny, her husband of more than 52 years, of their home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff and Doris Welch of Portales and Kevin and Megan Welch of Denver, CO; a daughter and son-in-law, Angie and Brant Moore of Canyon, TX; her first granddaughter, Addison Jade Welch, who is expected to be born on Sept.6,2014, in Denver; and four brothers and two sisters-in-law, Buddy and Janice Vaughan and Dale and Judy Vaughan of clovis and Ronnie Vaughan and Edward Vaughan both of Amarillo, TX.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
