Mrs. Lucile Mae (Right) Armentrout, 96, a lifelong resident of Belington, departed this life early Wednesday morning, July 2, 2014, at her residence. She had been in declining health for the past several months.
She was born March 2, 1918, at Weaver in Randolph County, a daughter of the late E.A. and Bertha Bennett Hunt.
On May 25, 1940, at Monterey, Va., she was united in marriage to Charles L. Armentrout, who preceded her in death July 6, 1996.
She is survived by two daughters, Joyce Keen of Belington and Barbara Weber and husband, Max, of Culpeper, Va.; grandchildren, Charles "Scott" Weber and wife Jane, of Potomac Falls, Va., Daniel Weber and wife, Julie, of Mooresville, N.C., Rhonda Grubbs and husband David, of Sandston, Va., and Christopher Keen and wife, Lore, of Stephenson, Va.; great-grandchildren include, Chelsea, Abigail, Dylan, Amanda, Adam, Samantha, Chase, Elizabeth Ann (Jason) Eifert; and one great-great-grandson, Wyatt Anthony; and a stepgreat-grandson, David Seth. Also surviving are one sister, Patricia Ryan of Belington and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Armentrout graduated Belington High School with the class of 1939 and attended Davis & Elkins College. She was formerly the owner and operator of Belington General Insurance Agency and JoyLee Gift Shop, and was a homemaker. Lucile was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. For many years, she sang in the choir and was known for her beautiful solos. She was a former church trustee and youth leader. She was a member of the White Shrine of Jerusalem No. 19 and the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 68 in Belington where she was past worthy matron and held various offices.
She was a member of Tygart Valley Rebekah Lodge 181 in Belington; a past member of the Good Samaritan Society Auxiliary and was the past president of the Federated Women's Club of Belington. She was a volunteer for Belington Kiwanis Club and also volunteered at Belington Heart and Hand Store for more than 15 years.
In 1998, Mrs. Armentrout was awarded the Silver Bowl for the Woman of the year by the Delta Kappa Gamma Society for her devotion to her community. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her and will be remembered for that wonderful smile that was always on her face.
Per Lucile's request, a private family visitation will be conducted Saturday at Talbott Funeral Home in Belington, and a public graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. in the Fraternal Cemetery at Belington with Pastor Judith Flynn officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made in her memory to the Asbury United Methodist Church, 512 Beverly Pike, Belington, WV 26250.
