James William Atkisson, 78, a carpenter for 50 years; died at 6 p.m. Sunday at Martin's Twilight Nursing Home, 1714 S. 2nd. He lived at 1502-P Moore Court and was a native of Cloverport, Ky. Atkisson was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church. Surviving are his wife, the former Anna Akridge; 2 daughters, Mrs. Edna Herndon, New Albany, and Mrs. Emma Mardis; 5 sons, Henry L. Atkisson, Charlestown, IN, Joseph R., Charles M., Eurick, B., and James W. Atkisson Jr.: and 13 grandchildren. The funeral will be at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at Owen Funeral Home, 2611 Virginia, and at 9 a.m. St Ann Church. Burial will be in Schardein Cemetery.
