HUSBAND, WIFE DIE IN
MIDVALE MURDER-SUICIDE
Midvale, Utah - A 42-year-old copper workman and his 36-year-old estranged wife were shot and killed today in what Midvale police call a murder and suicide.
The bodies of John Togliatti and his wife, Lamonte Meacham Togliatti, were found in their Midvale home when a 14-year-old daughter, one of their three children, returned from a show.
Mel Christopherson, Midvale police officer, said Togliatti apparently had forced his way into the house, shot his wife and then killed himself.
Christopherson said the couple had separated some time ago and that Mrs. Togliatti recently had started divorce proceedings.
In addition to 14-year-old Marian, who found the bodies, the couple had another daughter, Betty, 10, and a son, Robert, 7.
Togliatti recently had been living in Murray at the home of a sister, officers said.
