"Ralph Rinehart, age 80, of Linneus, died Monday in a Kansas City hospital. Mr. Rinehart, a Linn County resident for 43 years, was an Army veteran of World War I and a past vice-commander of the western division of the Missouri Department, American Legion. For a number of years he had directed the District Two oratorical contest of the American Legion. He had also served as commander of the Linneus post No. 538, was a member of 40 and 8 Society and the Linneus Methodist Church. Mr. Rinehart had been a carpenter before he retired 15 years ago. He was born March 8, 1897, in Iola [sic], Kan., the son of Greeley and Rose Thompson Rinehart.

Mr. Rinehart is survived by his wife, the former Vera Powell, who is a Linn County superintendent of schools; a daughter, Mrs. Betty Alexander of Kansas City; two grand-children and four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Dewey Rinehart of Donna, Texas.

Funeral services for Mr. Rinehart will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church of Linneus with the Rev. Kenneth Lee officiating. Military services will be conducted at the grave site at Elmwood Cemetery, Linneus." The Chillicothe Constitution-Tribune, October 11, 1977
